Zone 5 Opens Silicon Valley Office

NY Communications Firm to focus on Technology and Higher-Ed Opportunities

ALBANY, NY and SAN JOSE, CA – Zone 5, one of the northeast’s premiere communications firms is proud to announce the opening of its Silicon Valley office. Zone 5 has a long history of experience and a growing portfolio of clients in the technology sector.

“This is a natural move for Zone 5,” said Todd Mosher, founder and CEO. “We have deep roots in the semiconductor and renewable energy industries. It only made sense to go right to the source and establish a presence where many of our clients and other leading companies are located.”

The new office, located in San Jose, California, enables Zone 5 to service existing clients more efficiently, as well as attract new ones – some of which are interested in coming to Tech Valley.

To meet the demands of an already expanding client base, Zone 5 has hired additional staff for the west coast office. Loren Sutherland brings more than 25 years of semiconductor experience to Zone 5 and joins the firm as senior director of west coast business development. As a well-known and recognized industry veteran, Sutherland has led many highly visible semiconductor initiatives, activities and programs, including the creation of several key executive programs and symposiums.

Zone 5’s technology sector experience includes working with Intel, NY Loves NanoTech, The Luther Forest Technology Campus, Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), Center for Economic Growth (CEG), Total Facility Solutions (M+W Group), AWS Truepower, PlugPower and Seimens, among others.

“We aren’t waiting until the companies come to Tech Valley, we are engaging them on their turf,” said Paul Fahey, COO and director of marketing strategies. “We have been traveling in these circles for more than a decade and this is the right time to make this investment. Zone 5 has built a solid reputation in the technology community by not only meeting their outreach needs, but also by understanding what they do and how they operate.”

In addition to expanding its technology portfolio, Zone 5 is also bringing its higher education marketing and PR expertise to clients on the west coast. In the past two years the company has grown its higher education practice to include colleges and universities in West Virginia, Massachusetts, Delaware and Maryland.

“We see tremendous potential and synergies between the technology and higher education sectors. Now that we have the office in California it’s a notice to both industries that we are completely invested and that we can provide our unique experience and collective knowledge on a larger scale.” added Mosher.

With offices in Albany, NY and San Jose, CA, Zone 5 is a full-service communications agency providing research, marketing, public relations, new media and strategic branding services to top regional, national and international entities. The company was started in 1989 and has grown to include expertise in the areas of healthcare, higher education, financial services, economic development and technology/manufacturing. Zone 5 has also been the recipient of many creative awards from the Ad Club Association of Professional Communicators, the American Marketing Association, Admissions Marketing Report and the NYS Economic Development Council, and has been a two-time recipient of the “Great Places to Work” award by the Albany Business Review.
